Welcome to your new (work) home
Great Southern Bank (GSB) is a genuinely different organisation. Being customer-owned means the focus is always on people - from reinvesting profits into better value for customers, to supporting communities and ensuring fair, responsible and accessible banking. Their purpose - helping all Australians own their own home - isn’t just words on a website; it underpins how they lead, work and connect with each other every day.

Culturally, GSB is collaborative, inclusive and forward-thinking. They balance warmth and community connection with innovation and disciplined execution, creating a people-first environment where flexibility, diversity and wellbeing genuinely matter.

The Opportunity - Shape the Future of Talent & Experience
Reporting to the Head of Culture, Leadership & People Experience, this newly created leadership role sits within the People & Culture Division, leading a small team of Talent & Experience Partners across strategic and operational delivery.

You will play a highly visible role shaping how GSB attracts, welcomes and grows its people - strengthening employer brand, uplifting hiring capability and building future-focused talent strategies as the bank continues its enterprise-wide transformation.

Your impact will include:

  • Leading Talent & Experience strategy and delivery across the employee lifecycle
  • Growing and developing a capable team of Talent & Experience Partners
  • Strengthening employer branding and proactive sourcing pipelines
  • Partnering with senior leaders to guide confident people decisions
  • Elevating candidate experience, onboarding and internal mobility journeys
  • Driving simplification through technology, insights, AI and automation
  • Managing recruitment and assessment vendors for quality and value outcomes
  • Using analytics to assess workforce trends, pipeline health and capability gaps
This role blends strategic leadership with hands-on influence - shaping systems, processes and partnerships while staying connected to the experience on the ground.

About You
You bring strong experience across Talent Acquisition, sourcing or recruitment operations, ideally within complex or fast-moving environments. You are comfortable modernising TA functions - combining human-centred thinking with data and technology to create experiences that work for both people and the business.

Your strengths include:
  • Proven leadership of end-to-end Talent functions and delivery teams
  • Success building pipelines for specialist or hard-to-fill capability
  • Experience using systems, analytics and automation to enhance performance
  • Confidence partnering with Executives and senior leaders
  • A calm, collaborative leadership style that builds trust and simplifies complexity
(Background in financial services or regulated industries is beneficial but not essential.)

Why This Role?
This opportunity offers the rare combination of:
  • A purpose-led organisation with strong community impact
  • A cooperative, customer-owned business model that truly puts people first
  • Genuine backing for innovation and modern People practices
  • A supportive, inclusive culture that values diversity, flexibility and wellbeing
  • Visible scope to influence, shape and grow a function in transformation
This is a role where your work will make a meaningful difference, strengthening how Great Southern Bank attracts and supports the people who ultimately deliver on its mission to help Australians achieve home ownership.
