Dragonfly Shipping Australia is a fast-growing last-mile logistics and parcel delivery provider bringing innovative, technology-enabled solutions to the Australian e-commerce landscape. As a subsidiary of the global logistics company Dragonfly (originally founded as Intelcom in Canada), the business specialises in optimising delivery routes and providing flexible, seven-day-a-week parcel services that enable retailers to deliver fast, reliable and predictable customer experiences. With an expanding national footprint, ambitious growth plans across Australia and a strong focus on operational excellence, Dragonfly is redefining how parcels are delivered locally and nationally.
As the business enters a critical phase of transformation and growth, Dragonfly is now seeking an experienced and commercially minded HR Director
to lead and elevate the people function in Australia. This is a senior leadership opportunity for a hands-on HR leader (you are likely currently a Senior HR Business Partner or HR Manager) who thrives in fast-paced, operational environments and is motivated by building strong foundations, developing high-performing teams and enabling growth at scale.
Reporting to the Managing Director and VP – Australia, you will act as a trusted advisor to the executive and operational leadership team, ensuring people strategy directly supports business performance, cultural ambition and long-term capability. You will lead a small but critical HR team, embedding practical, fit-for-purpose frameworks while remaining closely connected to the day-to-day realities of a frontline, geographically dispersed workforce.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic and operational HR leadership aligned to Dragonfly’s growth, performance and cultural objectives
- Build and execute people strategies across talent management, workforce planning, succession, capability development and organisational design
- Strengthen leadership capability and team performance through pragmatic, commercially grounded people practices
- Partner closely with operational leaders to ensure HR supports – rather than constrains – delivery outcomes
- Lead employee relations, industrial frameworks and risk management within Australian labour law requirements
- Oversee recruitment, onboarding, learning and development, and performance frameworks to support rapid scaling
- Act as custodian of culture, values and engagement in a high-energy, entrepreneurial environment
- Leverage global HR tools and best practice where appropriate, while tailoring solutions to local operational needs
About You
As a senior HR leader, you will embody Dragonfly’s core values of teamwork, customer focus, diligence and innovation. You are commercially astute, operationally credible and comfortable operating in environments where pace, ambiguity and change are constant.
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Significant experience in a senior HR leadership or business partnering role, ideally within operational, industrial or growth-oriented environments
- Demonstrated capability building and leading HR teams, with a track record of lifting function maturity and impact
- Strong working knowledge of Australian industrial relations and employment frameworks
- Experience supporting workforce growth, transformation or turnaround scenarios
- The confidence and courage to challenge, influence and partner with senior leaders in pursuit of better outcomes
This role will suit an HR leader seeking more than a maintenance position – someone motivated by building foundations, driving momentum and playing a visible role in the next phase of Dragonfly’s Australian growth journey.
