Wesley Research Institute is a leading not-for-profit medical research organisation dedicated to improving quality of life and patient outcomes through applied health research. As part of the UnitingCare Queensland (UCQ) network, WRI collaborates closely with clinicians, universities, and hospitals to deliver high-impact research aligned with the needs of Wesley Hospital, St Andrew’s War Memorial Hospital, Buderim Private Hospital, and St Stephen’s Hervey Bay.

Reporting to the Head of Corporate Services / CFO, this newly created HR Business Partner role offers a rare opportunity to make a measurable impact from day one.
As the organisation’s first in-house HR hire, you’ll partner closely with the executive leadership team (ELT) and operational leaders to bring the people and culture strategy to life. You will play a key role in:
- Driving culture and employee engagement
- Coaching leaders through organisational change and workforce development
- Implementing a new HRIS
- Embedding performance, recognition, and people experience frameworks
- Creating a workplace where inclusion and neurodiversity are celebrated
We’re seeking a commercially minded, people-centric HR professional who is values-aligned and agile in approach. You will thrive in an evolving, purpose-driven organisation and bring:
- Experience across the full employee lifecycle in a business-partnering role
- Proven ability to coach, support and challenge leaders in a constructive way
- HRIS implementation experience and digital mindset
- Understanding or exposure to supporting neurodiverse or diverse workforces
- Adaptability, empathy, and strong communication skills
