Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC) is seeking an experienced and strategic public affairs leader to step into the role of Head of Public Affairs, responsible for managing BAC’s external engagement across government, media, industry stakeholders and the community.
Reporting to the Executive General Manager Communications and Public Affairs, this role is critical in protecting and enhancing BAC’s reputation, driving influence on key policy and regulatory issues, and building trust with the many stakeholders that shape their operating environment.
You will lead government engagement at the federal, state, and local levels, delivering briefings, roadshows and strategic communications that build support for BAC’s projects and long-term plans and oversee proactive media relations strategies, manage BAC’s community engagement and education programs, and respond to reputational issues and emergencies in line with the Airport’s Communications Plan. This role also includes building and maintaining partnerships with key industry bodies and external stakeholders, ensuring BAC is well represented in sector-wide discussions and collaborative efforts. Internally, you’ll contribute to business strategy, lead and support a high-performing team and provide trusted advice to the Executive Leadership Team.
The successful candidate will offer significant experience in public affairs, media or government relations, a strong understanding of political and policy processes, and the ability to influence, communicate and lead with credibility. You’ll be a calm presence in complex or high-pressure situations, an excellent writer and presenter, and a collaborative leader who enjoys working at the intersection of community, business and government.
