About the Business
The Royal Flying Doctor Service (Queensland Section) , purpose is simple but profound: to deliver the finest care to the furthest corner .

For almost 100 years, RFDS has been part of the fabric of regional and remote Queensland - providing aeromedical retrievals, primary healthcare, and mental health and oral health services across the state.

As part of their ‘Towards 100’ growth strategy , they are investing in their people, systems, and services to ensure their legacy of care continues for generations to come. With more than 600 employees across aviation, clinical, and corporate functions, they are united by values of Safety and Quality; Commercially Astute; Mutual Care and Respect; Proud and Passionate; Collaborative; Open and Transparent, and a shared commitment to making a real difference.

About the Role
Reporting to the Chief Financial and Corporate Services Officer , this newly defined role will lead the next phase of RFDS Queensland’s Enterprise Agreement negotiations - across nursing, aviation, medical, mental health and support service cohorts - through to the end of 2028.

As General Manager, Workplace Relations , you’ll set and execute the organisation’s industrial relations strategy, ensuring it aligns with both the RFDS mission and financial sustainability.

You’ll work closely with the Executive Leadership Team, including two new COOs (Clinical and Aviation), and the GM People Services, to build internal capability, foster collaborative union relationships, and guide leaders through the bargaining process. Supported by a small team and external partners as required, you’ll be hands-on in negotiations while uplifting leadership confidence, communication, and engagement across the business.

This is an opportunity to create focus, clarity, and alignment - and to help shape the next chapter of one of Australia’s most iconic organisations.

Who Are We Looking For?
We’re seeking a collaborative, values-aligned leader with a strong background in employee and industrial relations - someone who can navigate complexity with both technical rigour and strong EQ.

You will bring:

  • Proven experience leading multiple enterprise agreements across diverse workforces.
  • Background in clinical, healthcare, aviation, or not-for-profit sectors (advantageous).
  • Expertise in legislative compliance , negotiation strategy, and stakeholder engagement.
  • The ability to coach and build bargaining capability in senior leaders.
  • A calm, credible, and “hands-on” style that builds trust and promotes collaboration.

This is a rare opportunity to join a values-driven organisation at a pivotal moment in its history - helping RFDS Queensland continue its extraordinary journey toward 100 years of service and beyond.
