Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC) operates one of Australia’s most important aviation and infrastructure assets – connecting Queensland to Australia and the world.
With approximately 500 employees, BAC is a relatively small organisation doing big things. Its scale, complexity and impact extend well beyond the size of its workforce, with a diverse operating environment spanning aviation, infrastructure, property, commercial operations and major projects.
BAC is entering its next phase of organisational evolution. With a refreshed executive structure and a clear focus on the future, there is an opportunity for an exceptional executive to join the leadership team as Executive General Manager – People, Culture & Governance.
The opportunity
Reporting directly to the CEO and as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, the EGM People, Culture & Governance will lead a broad enterprise portfolio and play an influential role in shaping BAC’s future.
This is an executive role requiring both strategic perspective and the ability to operate effectively within a dynamic, highly visible environment. You will be a trusted adviser to the CEO, Board and executive team, bringing sound judgement, commercial thinking and a genuine commitment to people and organisational performance.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead the People, Culture & Governance portfolio, encompassing People & Culture, HSE, Legal and Company Secretariat.
- Partner with the CEO, Board and Executive Leadership Team on organisational strategy, governance, risk and workforce priorities.
- Lead the people and organisational elements of BAC’s next phase of change, building capability and supporting a high-performing culture.
- Provide executive oversight across workforce strategy, employee and industrial relations, safety, wellbeing and compliance.
- Ensure strong governance frameworks support effective decision-making and BAC’s broader strategic objectives.
- Lead and develop a capable senior team, creating clarity, accountability and strong enterprise-wide partnerships.
- Bring an enterprise mindset to the executive table, contributing beyond the functional portfolio to BAC’s overall performance and future direction.
About you
You will be an experienced executive who has operated in a complex, commercially focused organisation where people, governance, risk and reputation matter.
Your background may have been built through People & Culture leadership or a broader corporate portfolio; importantly, you will bring the executive maturity and breadth to lead across multiple disciplines.
You will bring:
- Significant executive leadership experience within a complex organisation.
- Strong commercial acumen and the ability to connect people and organisational priorities to business outcomes.
- Experience leading organisational change, transformation and capability uplift.
- Credibility partnering with CEOs, Boards and senior executives.
- Strong governance, risk and decision-making capability.
- The ability to lead specialist functions through capable leaders rather than needing to be the technical expert in every discipline.
- A pragmatic, contemporary and highly collaborative leadership style.
BAC’s leaders genuinely care about their people, and this role will suit an executive who shares that philosophy while also being prepared to challenge, influence and lead through change.
An airport is never static. BAC operates in an environment where today’s performance matters while the organisation continues to prepare for what comes next.
For the incoming EGM People, Culture & Governance, that creates a compelling mandate: respect what has made BAC successful, while helping shape what it needs to become.
This is an opportunity to join an organisation with the scale and complexity of a major enterprise, the connectivity of a relatively small workforce, and a leadership team ambitious about its next chapter.
