Care with Compassion – Be the Heart of Our Community
Lutheran Services is a not-for-profit organisation with a proud 90-year history of providing exceptional care and support to communities across Queensland. With 11 residential aged care facilities, we are dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for our residents while upholding our values of compassion, integrity, and excellence. Our services extend beyond aged care to include retirement living, home care, disability support, mental health, and family services, always placing the wellbeing of our residents and clients at the heart of everything we do.
About The Role:
Lutheran Services is seeking a visionary and values-driven leader for the role of Executive Director – Mission, Identity & Culture (EDMIC). This senior executive position is central to embedding Lutheran Services’ mission, values and theological identity across all aspects of organisational life including strategy, leadership, care delivery and culture.
Reporting directly to the CEO and serving as a key member of the Executive Team, the EDMIC leads the integration of Lutheran identity into operational and strategic initiatives, ensuring a strong cultural foundation that supports purpose-driven outcomes, high performance, and meaningful engagement with staff, clients, and communities. The role is responsible for stewarding the organisation’s identity framework and model of care, fostering a values-based culture, and chairing the Mission, Culture and Values Committee to ensure identity alignment in decision-making and enterprise-wide practice.
The EDMIC also leads Chaplaincy Services and Church engagement, overseeing pastoral care programs and nurturing strong relationships with the Lutheran Church, its leadership, and wider faith networks. As custodian of Lutheran Services’ spiritual and cultural heritage, you will design and deliver identity-building activities, storytelling, and symbolic events that bring purpose to life and build cultural cohesion.
About You:
It is expected that the ideal candidate will be a committed practicing Christian and an accomplished executive with a record of leading cultural or values-driven transformation in complex service environments such as aged care, health, community or education. You will bring strategic acumen, strong relational and influencing skills, and the ability to integrate faith-based identity with operational excellence. A grounding in, or openness to, Lutheran theology is essential, as is a genuine commitment to servant leadership.
If you are passionate about leading with meaning and building a legacy of faith-informed excellence, this is a rare opportunity to lead cultural transformation at an enterprise level, shaping how identity, purpose and care intersect to deliver impact for individuals and communities.
