Lutheran Services, is a respected not-for-profit organisation supporting communities across Queensland, they are seeking an experienced Employee Relations Partner for a 12-month fixed-term contract. This role backfills a permanent ER Partner seconded to a major project following a recent acquisition.

Lutheran Services is currently navigating a significant period of organisational change, including the bedding down of a restructure, stabilisation of new systems, and integration of an acquired service. While this has created complexity, it also presents meaningful, hands-on ER work for someone who enjoys supporting leaders through change and helping organisations move from reactive to sustainable ways of working.

Reporting to the ER Manager, this role offers a strong blend of employee relations and HR business partnering, supporting a defined client group across residential aged care, home care and community services.

About the Role

Key responsibilities include:

  • Advising and coaching leaders on grievances, misconduct, performance and disciplinary matters
  • Managing and supporting workplace investigations, mediation and conflict resolution
  • Preparing and reviewing ER documentation including performance improvement plans and other formal correspondence
  • Supporting consultation, change management and some IR / award-related matters
  • Partnering with WHS and rehabilitation teams on workplace matters and return-to-work processes
  • Contributing to ER policy development and continuous improvement initiatives
This is a hands-on, advisory role in a highly regulated, high-volume environment where priorities can shift quickly.

The Team & Environment
You will join a small, capable ER team within a broader People & Culture function supporting a workforce of approximately 2,200 employees (including casuals and volunteers). The ER/IR workload is complex due to sector regulation, multiple awards, aged care reform and the dynamics of the workforce that comes with the industry sector.

Manager capability and capacity vary across the organisation, with some leaders managing very large teams. As such, this role plays a critical part in supporting leaders through complex people matters while gradually building confidence and capability – the ultimate aim is to move to a place of coaching and partnering and away from reactivity.

Some travel to sites (including regional locations) is required, though it is not constant. Being visible and connected to operations is important.

About You
You may come from an ER or HR Business Partner background and will bring:
  • Tertiary qualifications in HR or a related discipline
  • Experience managing performance, conduct, grievances and investigations
  • Exposure to IR, awards or unionised environments (not highly adversarial)
  • Strong relationship-building and influencing skills
  • A flexible, practical mindset and willingness to roll up your sleeves
  • Comfort working in complexity and change, with shifting priorities
Experience in aged care, health, community services or other service-based environments will be well regarded, and you will receive a market competitive salary which includes significant salary packaging options and vehicle allowance (paid fortnightly).
